Logging

At Chilton Logging, Inc.  our goal is to help our clients manage their timber stand to reach its full potential and to earn the maximum value possible for their investment at the time of harvest. We can help determine the feasibility of your harvest operation as well as work with the Department of Natural Resources to properly identify and protect the riparian areas that are located around streams and wetlands as well as any critical wildlife habitat or potentially unstable slopes. Chilton Logging has several highly qualified foresters on staff that can assist you with all stages of managing your timber from permitting to harvesting to re-planting your new stand.

We have five Accredited Logging Professionals on staff and Chilton Logging, Inc. is a certified member of the Washington Logger Safety Initiative (LSI) and the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI). We are also Accredited Members of Washington Contract Loggers Association and members of the Washington Farm Forestry Association.

The logging company has worked in varied terrain all over the northwest and has acquired an abundance of experience with technical, challenging logging operations.  It’s actually the tougher harvest units that set us apart from the competition.  Though, no matter how tough the logging is, we pride ourselves on keeping safety as our top priority for our employees and production and quality second.  Our safety culture starts with Craig and Josh Chilton and permeates through our entire company.

We focus our logging business on private timberland, and fill in where needed on DNR State timber sales, and industrial timberland. Our crews are experts at quality sorting for both the Japanese and the Chinese export market, as well as maximizing log value in the domestic markets.   We have a very well-developed internal marketing program that fetches the best log prices available for our clients.

Most of our crew-members have been with the company for many years, with the core group having worked for decades at Chilton Logging.  We take great care to treat our employees well because we recognize the value of having a stable workforce over time.  We provide very competitive wages, paid vacation, employee and family health insurance, and company matching 401k retirement plans.
